Eladio Sáenz Quiroga

Eladio Saenz Quiroga was born on December 13, 1931 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. He completed his primary education at the Edmundo de Amicis Elementary School (1937-1943), and attended Junior High School No.1 (1943-1946) and High School No.1 (1946-1948). He studied the bachelor of civil engineering and the bachelor of mathematics at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (1948-1958). Saenz Quiroja took summer Mathematics courses at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) between 1958 and 1967. He also took some graduate courses at the University of California, USA (1961-1962), the Universidad de la Republica, Montevideo, Uruguay (1966), and at the First National Colloquium of Mathematics in Oaxtepec, Morelos (1968).

Some of his published works include different topics of applied mathematics in journals of the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Economics, the Mexican Mathematical Society (Sociedad Matematica Mexicana)  and the National Association of Mathematics teachers (Asociacion Nacional de Profesores de Matematicas). Those works are: “Mathematics for economists” (Fondo de Cultura Economica); "Problemas de Optimización, Programación Lineal” (printed in the School of Economics, UANL) and “Mathematic’s history notes” (currently in process by the School of Physics and Mathematics).

He has a long teaching experience: he has been teaching Mathematics since September 1951 at High School No. 1, High School No. 3, School of Civil Engineering, School of Economics, School of Chemistry, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Physics and Mathematics and also at the School of Economics in Coahuila.

He has also been a professor in master’s degree programs at the School of Civil Engineering, School of Economics, School of Architecture, Colegio de México (College of Mexico), UNAM, and the Programa de Formación de Maestros de Matemáticas de Escuela Superior de Agricultura Tropical, Tabasco.

 He was proclaimed as Emeritus Professor of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, on September 18, 1986.
